New partnership combines the entrepreneurial freedom of running an independent practice with established infrastructure, digital solutions and the support of a strong healthcare network
Berlin, September 18, 2026 – LillianCare is expanding its approach to primary care with a new licensing partnership for physicians seeking to establish their own family practice. Designed particularly for specialists in general medicine and internal medicine, the partnership provides a route to independent practice without requiring physicians to manage every aspect of setting up and running a practice on their own.
Under the licensing partnership, physicians retain full clinical and entrepreneurial independence, operating their own practice under their own statutory health insurance accreditation. LillianCare acts as a system partner, providing support in areas including practice setup, location selection and financing, team recruitment and onboarding, digital infrastructure, billing and administration, quality management and marketing, as well as the processes associated with accreditation by the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians (KV) and access to available funding. The partnership can also support physicians looking to acquire and modernize an existing practice.
Making Independent Practice More Attractive
The need for new approaches to outpatient care is growing. According to the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians (KBV), around 5,000 family physician positions across Germany are currently unfilled. At the same time, almost 40 percent of family physicians are aged 60 or older, leaving many practices facing succession challenges in the coming years.
Expectations of the medical profession are changing as well. The KBV reports a growing trend towards employed positions and part-time working models, while the overall amount of physician working time available continues to decline. The aim is to make more effective use of available medical resources and create sustainable care structures, particularly in regions where the need for primary care is high.
LillianCare supports licensing partners well before their practice opens, from location analysis and business planning to practice setup, team recruitment and KV accreditation processes. Depending on the individual circumstances, the journey from the initial consultation to opening the practice is expected to take approximately six to nine months. Once the practice is operational, partners remain part of the LillianCare network and continue to have access to established services and additional support.
